  • Squash (0-3)

  • Swimming (1-2) StA 12/12 (no report)

  • Wrestling (2-0) described by Coach Katz

    • We sent all available wrestlers to two different tournaments this weekend.  Five wrestlers were entered into the Ray Oliver Tournament hosted by the McDonogh School of Baltimore.  We took 12th place out of 12 teams.  Seniors Lorenzo Lopez (132) and Jerrold Johnson (182) placed 6th and 5th place respectively.  Lorenzo made it to the semi-finals, but could not make the second day because of the SAT.  Jerrold went 2-2 for the weekend.  Matt Amitay (138) and Patrick Kielb (160) were one round away from placing. Junior Tyler Younge (145) lost two close matches, but wrestled well at one his first competitive tournament for Landon.

      • At the Holloway tournament hosted by St. James, the Bears took 9th out of 12 schools.  This was a Varsity tournament where the rest of the team was able to enter.  We had four wrestlers place in the top 4.  Freshmen Nico Schermer (145) took 4th , Ty Reyes (182) took 4th, Will Abramson (195) took 2nd, and Gabe Johnson (220) took 3rd.  Many wrestlers earned their first victories for the year/career…. Charlie Lynn (106), Julian Diaz (152), David LaPrade (152), Luke Camphausen (170), Cole Siepman (170), and Lucas Macdonald (170).  Overall, it was a good weekend.

    • Landon 67  Bishop Ireton 10

      • It was a good night for the Bears!  The match started at 106 with a forfeit to John BatesBao Duong got his first start on Varsity as he bumped up to 113 to help the team.  He wrestled a good match but lost 13-5.  Conrad Brady received a forfeit at 120.  At 126, Nico Biabani wrestled one of their best wrestlers.  Unfortunately, he got pinned in the first period making the score 12-10 Landon. Bishop Ireton now must face the meat of our line-up and it did not go so well for them.  Our Senior leaders, Lorenzo Lopez and Matt Amitay, showed their skills by both pinning their opponents.  Then our young freshmen, one-two punch of Nico Schermer (145) and Anthony Savoy (152) both earned their first varsity dual victories with a pin and a major decision, respectively.  Patrick Kielb put the nail in the coffin with a beautiful throw to a pin.  Marc Schermer (170) and Ty Reyes (182) received forfeits.  Will Abramson (195) won a close match 7-6.  Again, another first year freshman showing his impact on this team.  Juniors Eric Cao and Sachin Srikanth ended the match with forfeits as well.

We managed to get in 13 exhibition matches. Our young wrestlers had a great day. They went 11-2.
