IAC CHAMPS for the 3rd year in a row….5 championships out of the last 6 years. In all my years of coaching at Landon, this is the first IAC championship we earned at home. In previous years, we were in position to but let it slip through our fingers. This year, it was earned. The team faced a lot of adversity this week. We had several starters out sick, skin issues, and injuries. Without Captain Will Levy and stud Junior Theo Shockey, the team had to pull it together and get it done. The rest of the league is sick of losing to us and several teams shifted their tough wrestlers to take us out. The Bears prevailed. The semi-finals were the round that made the difference when several Bears (Escudero, Koegel, and Kelly) beat guys they lost to during the regular season and the team pushed 10 into the finals.
106 Freshman Dennis Leary placed 3rd
113 Freshman Domingo Escudero placed 2nd
120 Senior Captain James Hanley CHAMPION— ALL-IAC
126 Sophomore Joe Papalia CHAMPION— ALL-IAC
138 Sophomore Makana Neverosky 2nd … big day, he filled in for injured Will Levy and almost won
144 Freshman Max Murray CHAMPION— ALL-IAC
150 Sophomore Ryan Zand – wrestled up a weight to help the team, but did not place
157 Junior Connor Koegel placed 2nd
165 Senior Captain Nate Furgeson placed 2nd. He was chosen by coaches as ALL-IAC at large
175 Senior Owen Kelly place 2nd
190 Junior DP Pope CHAMPION— ALL-IAC
215 Captain Junior Tiller Smith place 2nd
285 Senior George Allen placed 3rd
On Thursday, the IAC varsity championship happened at Landon. There were 10 pools of wrestlers. Landon won 9 of the 10 pools. It was a good week for the Bears!
Congratulations to the following wrestlers who are IAC Varsity B Champs!

Squash
2024 League Champions Coach Miller recounts a very successful season winning their league and playing the local standard–
Led by senior captain CALEB WADE this year’s Landon Varsity Squash team made history. They beat Wakefield for only the second time in school history and they beat Walt Whitman for the first time in history, thus winning their first league title ( CIVL) in school history. They beat Gonzaga, BCC, and the Heights along the way. While the team loses two seniors, Caleb Wade and NICKY HARAZMUS, sophomores ANDREW AMOROSI and ZAK FEKRAT will lead the charge in 2025. The team concluded the season with a battle against EHS. They opened the season with a 0-7 loss to Episcopal but on Thursday night they almost made history again in a 3-4 nailbiter that saw Landon hold a match point with the match tied at 3. This is the first time that Landon squash has played EHS varsity as they have always played the JV in the past.

Second College Commitment announcements—eight talented seniors declare the colleges of their choice—2 basketball, 3 football, 2 lacrosse, and 1 wrestler.
