Mike Blasey ’15 was named as one of the twelve boys “who are of the nation’s brightest minds and best junior golfers” and as such was awarded a place on the 2014 HP Scholastic Junior All-America Team. To earn this honor, Mike had to have placed in the top 10 of an AJGA Open or Invitational and then qualify based on the following criteria in order of importance: standardized test scores, GPA, school leadership/community service and writing skills as showcased in an original essay. No one else from the DMV made the team. Past HP winners include Casey Martin (1989), Matt Kuchar (1994), Scott Langley (2005) and Patrick Rodgers (2009, 2010).

Alex Cade finds lacrosse success on and off the field

Alex Cade’94 was a star goalie at Landon and then made the 1996 All American team and elected Captain at Notre Dame, graduating with honors at South Bend. He headed off to Coronado, California, where he grew the high school lacrosse team there into a Southern California power. He brings his Islanders back East each spring with a stop at Bordley Field.
After a MLL career, he started Adrenaline Lacrosse which offers lax gear, the LXM pro team, clubs for West Coast players to develop and showcase their skills and recruiting services. His Retail Division became a big success (Landon lacrosse players wear his socks) in large part due to Alex’s insistence that his gear would not reflect East Coast traditional styles. If you attend any of the showcase lax events, the wild colors and dynamic uniforms are attributable to Adrenaline’s design leadership.
The retail division was acquired by Lacrosse Unlimited, in what LaxAllStars.com characterized as “what may be the most significant inner-industry transaction of our time”. As explained in this lengthy article, Cade and his fellow executives decided to focus on their real passion and that was in the coaching and developing talent.

Jason Murphy was selected to be a RS freshman for the Virginia Cavaliers, in all likelihood specializing in the face-off skills like his brother Justin.
Last week at the Play4Parkins’ Fall Ball classic, Bears Justin Murphy and Mark Strabo were there for the Princeton. Justin was sidelined and Mark was the lead defender for the Tigers.
On Sunday, October 12, at the Capitol Lacrosse Classic, Bears Alex Joyce of Georgetown, Big Brother Will Joyce and his fellow Cornell Bears/Bears Marshall Peters and Jack Bolen will be playing in the memory of George Boiardi.
If there is any other news about Bears and Fall Ball, please send emails. Those events are not well reported.
Trey Lundelius, McGill, has the week off.

Mac Hightower, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Cross Country—the team has a bye week.
