Wrestling—From Coach Katz
Since the season has wrapped up, the team continues to get recognition for an excellent season. Thank you for following our progress this year. My hope is that we continue to improve and make a mark on wrestling in the DelMarVa area and beyond.
Last weekend, Axel Giron and Lorenzo Lopez competed in the NHSCA in Virginia Beach. Coach Torres traveled with the boys and coached them. Axel Giron lost in the quarter finals and wrestled back to 4th place. He went 6-2 for the weekend at 113. This earned him All-American status in the Junior Division.

Under Armour announced its first 11 boys who have been selected to compete in the 13th-annual Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Game — Joey Epstein, Landon (Md.), Johns Hopkins
Varsity Rugby – (3-0) On a crisp spring day, Landon School hosted DeMatha Catholic at Prindle Field for a matrix game, Division I Metro Area Rugby Varsity Conference (MAVRC). At close of regulation play (35 minutes per period), final result was Landon 54 – DeMatha 10.
Both teams greatly appreciate the allocation of Jason Wallach as referee and post-match hospitality provided by Landon families Atkins, Baldwin, and Howe. No yellow or red cards were given. DeMatha has one player with a possible concussion, who was removed from play. Landon has two players with minor injury.
Landon played tough against a very big and physical DeMatha team. Nico Kenary and JD Desroches were outstanding on offense points scored. Captains Tommy Baldwin and Aidan Howe also up on the board. Parker Svensrud had an outstanding try in the corner called back by the referee. Josh Chapman and Omar Ahmad scored their first tries, with Omar also kicking the conversion points on his try. Head Coach John France notes, “Coming off 20 days without a game, the lads looked sharp. Lots of hustle and good teamwork. We have very competitive games ahead and we’re looking forward to them as “underdogs”. Landon is 3-0 on the season.
