BearSportsNews Sunday Edition 03/23/2014

Sorry about the absence of this edition for a week, but duties to family prevented the research normally associated with these posts. Updates on alumni playing hoops and hockey plus news about the very talented Varsity Bear golf team.

Bear Hoops Trax

As reported before, there were 3 Bears in March Madness:

• Former Harvard Captain and current Crimson Coach Christian Webster

• Junior UVA power forward, Darion Atkins and

• Sophomore GWU point guard. Joe McDonald http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/colleges/despite-ncaa-tournament-loss-colonials-dont-look-to-be-one-hit-wonders/2014/03/22/03bf73d6-b1ed-11e3-95e8-39bef8e9a48b_story.html

At publication, we know that only Darion is still dancing. All Bears should be proud of these three alumni. Good luck tonight against the blue Tigers of Memphis.

From the state of Maine comes news of our main man there, Colby’s Chris Hudnut http://www.colby.edu/athletics_cs/mbnescac3-5-14.cfm, was named to the ALL NESCAC 2^nd team as a sophomore.

Bear Ice Trax

Of all 7 Bears continuing their hockey careers in college, only one, Sam Anas, Quinnipiac, is still playing. He scored in his ECAC games. His team was seeded #2 in the East region for  the Frozen Four, which will be held in Philadelphia.

His university has established a website http://quinnipiacbobcats.com/sports/mice/2013-14/releases/201403228cd29k extolling this Bear as National Rookie of the Year—

How awesome would it be to have a Bear as THE Rookie hockey of the year? If this Bear wins, look out Shattuck-St. Mary’s!!! 😉

Swimming

Jordan Gear at USC was in the NCAA Zone E Diving Regional Competitions, but getting the results requires more research skills than are available.
