Bear Grapplers TAKE THE IAC 2023 CROWN; Bear BBall upsets #2 Bullis in Potomac; Bear senior is MoCo POWeek ;Hockey, with a flu-depleted bench, loses to #1 SJCHS and ties GP, the tie earns them the regular season title

BASKETBALL— 1 pro BB player major factor for his Italian team; one Bear is coaching an ACC team; two college hoopsters lead their team in key stats (1 DIV. I and one Div. III); and 2 more playing for their teams.
HOCKEY—2 pros in same competitive league 2 Div. III college both players getting time on ice as freshmen; 5 are playing in developmental leagues (one committed to Brown); 5 contributing to their College Club teams; one playing for a Founders’ League team

Winter Sports
Basketball– (14-8) beat EHS 76 – 66 and in a thrilling win over WaPo #2 Bullis (21-1, undefeated at home, atop the IAC), the Bears won 64-63 on a last second CLUTCH shot by Chris Wells off a phenomenal assist by Joseph Coleman!!!

Even before this big win (in which he had 32 pts, 7 reb., 3 asst, 1 stl, 1 blk), the MoCo Sports Hall of Fame

Hockey – (7-1) Coach Parker’s WaPo #3 team suffered again from injured/sick players lost @ SJCHS (WaPo #1) 1-5. Then versusGP (#5) a 4-4 tie put the Bears on top of the IAC regular season. (i n 3RD period Sebby Kenary “tangoed a GP D and then the netminder for the Bears fourth goal) Next week 2/4 @Gonzaga (WaPo #2).

It was basically a dual meet with Landon versus the rest of the IAC. Landon 43 IAC 32. We had 8 champs with 6 pins, a major decision, and one decision.
