Coach Katz’s wrestlers place 3rd (field=28)
In Maryland State Championships

THE BEARS CONTINUE TO MAKE HISTORY IN OUR PROGRAM. Led by an amazing group of Seniors, this team PLACED 3RD OUT OF 28 TEAMS at States behind perennial powerhouse Mount Saint Joseph and top ranked St. Mary’s Ryken. We edged out new the new program St. Frances of Baltimore by 1.5 points for 3rd. We placed higher than traditional powers Gilman, Calvert Hall, Loyola, Spalding, DeMatha, and McDonogh. WE ALSO EARNED 8 NATIONAL QUALIFIERS THAT PLACED IN THE TOP 6. Here are the top 10 team scores:
Individually, we had a total of 9 place winners. I am proud to say that every Senior entered earned a spot on the podium. For the second year in a row, Landon earned the OUTSTANDING WRESTLER. JOEL BROWN went 5-0 on the weekend with 4 first period pins and defeated Maryland commit Clayton Gabrielson from Ryken 5-0 in the finals. Junior James Hanley lost a tough match in the finals as our next highest place winner. Junior Nate Furgeson continues to make his mark by earning 3rd place. Unseeded Conrad Brady found a way to get on the podium.
