INSIDE THE WHITE ROCKS

Football (2-3) the Bears traveled to Pennsylvania where they faced “a monstrous line that includes 6-5, 305-pound Matt Pante, Noah Andrewson (6-6, 330), Sean Dugery (6-3, 305),  Adon Gross (6-4, 280) and Michael Barnes (6-2, 25)” . Haverford added a 5th win to their undefeated season, ranked in top 10 of the Commonwealth.  Stephen Best well described Bears Football 7 Haverford 44

Soccer (6-2-1) undefeated in IAC play. Four straight shut outs v. EHS, GP, Bullis and SSSA with the Bears putting 15 balls into the back of those opponents’ nets.

The usual suspects across the backline, and Geffert in goal, played well.  Zach Anderson, Masai Gordon and Manif Jaffa all contributed meaningfully as well.

Coach Reed write-up of win over Bullis: Horrific weather tonight over at Bullis, good result.  What started as a slight, occasional drizzle in the mid-50s in the first half turned into a steady rain and a raw 49 degrees by the final whistle.  You would not have known that, given the boys’ performances.  Both teams came into the game on 2 – 0 in IAC competition.  One of our first-line guys was out sick today, which opened the door for freshman Kendall Buford  (gooaallll…}to earn his first IAC start on the wing.  He responded in kind by picking up a cross from Moses Fishman and scoring what would stand up as the game-winner in the 23:00, 1 – 0.  For the next fifty+ minutes both teams traded chances and half chances but yielded no goals, though several players went into the referee’s book on yellow cards.  Bullis were getting desperate late in the game, understandably, and throwing everything forward.  In the 75:00, we earned a corner kick and Conrad Brady laced a beauty into the danger area that found Art Keys for an athletic header, 2 – 0.  Three minutes later, in the 78:00, Willis Reed iced the game by stripping a Bullis player of the ball, clipping it across the top of the box to Conrad, and running to the back post while Conrad made the baseline and turned his marker.  Conrad slipped the ball back through to Willis for an easy finish, 3 – 0.

Water Polo (1-1) ???

X-Country – in a field of 150+ at the Maryland XC Invitational Asim Hakim-Florian placed 26th and the team 18th.
