Winter Sports
BASKETBALL—10-10 swept StA in 2022 57-53 at home.
Back at Riddleberger, Coach Turner’s team again had a battle against #16 EHS 73-76 with the Bears winning 2 of the quarters . Potomac came to 6101 to have a second try against the Bears; the home team prevailed 68-59.
HOCKEY— 8-2-1 Coach Sears’ team, at full strength, played WaPo and MAPHL #1 St. John’s (14-2-1) to a 5-5, well-earned tie. Next up was Georgetown Prep which had a matching MAPHL standing points, #2 in WaPo and a streak. The Bears prevailed 4-2 in front of a standing room only, loud crowd.

INDOOR TRACK Coach Hunt 2nd fastest in Landon history for 1,000m

SWIMMING Coach Ros
SQUASH Coach Miller’s “racqueters” lost to WWHS 2-5 and then earned 1st league victory 4-3 over Wakefield HS.
WRESTLING Coach Katz’s write-ups of his meets are the best. The pride he has for his Bears shines through his words.

The Landon Bears have clinched at least part of the IAC title tonight as they completed their IAC dual meet schedule with a double dual. The night started with St. Stephens St. Agnes. They showed up on campus with 7 wrestlers. Forfeits were awarded to Shockey, Samuel, Levy, Robinson, Furgeson, and Reyes. All we needed for the team win was one win. We got 3. Captain Joel Brown (132) started the match with a dominating first period pin. At 170, Captain Anthony Savoy won a close decision 2-1. Freshman Talan Smith pinned his opponent in the first period. Bears win 51-15.
In the second match, St. Albans showed up with 6 wrestlers. Forfeits were received by Talan Smith 126, Furgeson 160, Savoy 170, Schermer 182, LaPrade 195, Tiller Smith 220, and Reyes 285. We won 4 of the 6 matches. The match started at 138. Conrad Brady started the roll with a pin in 3:20. At 145, Sophomore sensation Will Levy pinned his guy in 3:54. At 106, Theo Shockey won a close one with a takedown in overtime. The match ended with another dominating match by Joel Brown at 132. He pinned his guy in 48 seconds.
IAC Championships BEARS ARE #1 [as soon as Coach Katz writes his normally excellent recap, it will appear here soon after it is public.]
