  • Basketball– (14-8) Coach Turner’s hoopsters started the week with an early week loss to Maret 57-67and then a close loss @ Geo Prep 70-78. For senior’s night, the Bears faced IAC#2 SSSA {SIGNIFICANE: SSSA was coming off a win v. the Little Hoyas who, in turn recently beat #18DeMatha [away] 89-72}. The home team was led by senior Tyler Perkins (43pts,10 reb,2 A, 3stls, 2bkls- next PENN2027) and beat the Saints 72-64. Big night with enough emotions to see Coach Turner shed a tear or two.

  • Hockey – (7-1) Coach Parker’s WaPo #3 team tied DeMatha 0-0andthen earned a 6-4 win over StA.Both games were notable because multiple Bears had the flu The 1/17 game against WaPo #2 Gonzaga was cancelled because the sick list did not dissipate, and the Coach fell to the virus. The last 3 regular season games: 2/1 @ SJCHS (WaPo #1),2/2 @GP (#5) and the following week 2/4 @Gonzaga (WaPo #2).

  • Swimming and Diving IACs, report that Bear divers did well.

  • Wrestling from Coach Reed Friday, we finished the second phase of the season…. Dual meets. Our head-to-head final tally was 14-2. It was also Senior night.  We recognized 9 seniors that were instrumental in making our team what it is today.  It is unfortunate that they lost a year to covid because several of these Seniors will not make the record boards for career wins, even though they deserve it.

In the first match, we wrestled a full squad from Good Counsel. A perennial powerhouse in the WCAC {recently nationally ranked}, they always have some big strong athletic wrestlers.  There were many a battle on the mat tonight, and the Bears came out on top in most.  The match started at 215.  Sophomore stud Tiller Smith started the win streak with a close 3-1 victory with a takedown in the last seconds.  At 285, Senior Captain Ty Reyeswon another close one by the score of 4-2.  At 106, freshman Joey Papalia continues to get better every match and pinned his opponent in just over a minute Junior James Hanley put on a show with 12 points earned on several throws and nice tilts in the first period.  He pinned his guy early in the second. Sophomore Theo Shockey, Freshman Sam Bynum, and Junior Mike War continued to impress the crowd with three more pins.  A tough Good Counsel did not give up, they pounded back and won four of the last matches.  Wins by Senior Joel Brown, Junior Nate Furgeson, and Senior David LaPrade sealed the team win all with pins.  Final Score:  Landon 54 Good Counsel 21

In the second match, Landon continued to demonstrate their power as they beat Georgetown Day with a similar score: 53-13.  Even though GDS forfeited 6 matches, they are a much-improved team.  Of the 8 matches wrestled they split with us 4-4.  We had victories from Joe Papalia, Theo Shockey, Connor Koegel, and Tiller Smith.  Congratulations on a good night!
