BEARS WIN IAC LAX BY BEATING BULLIS 7-4

The story of the 2012 Bears’ lacrosse team has been a Band of 40 Bear Brothers and again the theme has been the display of character. Tonight at Bullis, we can put a BIG exclamation point on that statement of their constitution sentence. THESE ARE BEARS!
Tonight, when the teams played even, the Bears shut out the Bulldogs (average Goals scored per game 8.0); all of the home team goals were tallied when the Bears were serving a penalty. The Bear offense executed its game plan exquisitely—seven goals scored by 4 players and assists by 3.
The game started with a patented Matt Potolicchiohockey goal; the visitors took a shot, the ball rebounded and out of a mass of Bulldogs and Bears emerged #9 who had scooped up the ball and seemingly scored in the same motion at 9:21 unassisted. Five minutes later, Matt took the ball behind goal, drove towards the crease, caused a slide and hit Peter Laco, who quick-sticked it past the Bulldog goalie at 4:35.

The home team was given an EMO opportunity and Kylor Bellistri scored from the perimeter of the Bear’s zone at 5:24. Peter, joining the field as a midfielder, took the ball behind goal and passed it out to Jack Falkat 2:37.
