BEAR TRAX

Winter sports

  • 9 Bear Alums involved in Pro (leads team in a number of stats) and College Basketball. 

  • The Pro continues to lead his team.

  • A Senior’s college career ends after 3 1st team All Ivy and many records

  • All college seasons complete

  • 13 Bear Alums in hockey – Pro, College (Div. I & III) and club— One pro scores his first NHL goal for his new team and gets lots of mention in game v. CAPS message); other continues to be a key to team’s offense

  • ALL COLLEGE SEASONS COMPLETE

  • 1 Bear Alum in EPL U21

  • 2 Bear Alums on Swim and Dive teams- senior earns his 3rd ALL CONFERENCE AWARD

  • 2 Bear alums running for their colleges- no reports from meets

SPRING SPORTS

  • BASEBALL-6—one is a Grad Student leading his team in all batting stats; a senior is a returning all-league player and continues his play

  • GOLF- 1 player redshirting at Cal.

  • LACROSSE – 24 players, 13 played this week

  • BASEBALL—COACH MARTINEZ 2 early season losses to WCAC teams followed by a strong 10-0 win over School Without Walls.

  • GOLF—COACH LUTHER’s Bears UNDEFEATED with 2 wins and 2 ties 

  • LACROSSE— COACH McGETTIGAN’s team came back from 2 goal deficit in last minutes and win in O/T (all 3 goals by same player –click on this link who he was) …. LANDON LACROSSE 7 GILMAN 6 O/T ….; traveled to Philly to lose in O/T to Haverford (story later) 

  • RUGBY—COACH DR. SAM TYLER’s team lost to Good Counsel 5-19 

  • TENNIS—COACH MILLER L’86, lost to Wooten Potomac 2-5 and then beat Calvert Hall 4-1 

  • TRACK—COACH GRIFFIN GAGNON, young talent shine

Senior Kino Lilly Jr. of the Brown men’s basketball team was named FIRST TEAM ALL-IVY FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE SEASON,  Lilly Jr. becomes the fourth player in program history to earn First Team All-Ivy in three consecutive seasons. Kino was first in program history in three-pointers made (328), second in program history in career points (1,878), and in field goals made (648). Lilly is the first player in program history, and the third player in Ivy League history to make over 300 three-pointers.  Ahead of the 2024-25 season, he was named to the Bracketeer.Org All-American Watch List. Earlier this season, he was named to the Lou Henson Award Early-Season Watch List.
