THIS WEEK’S GAMES

BEAR V. BEAR

MICHIGAN (Zach Johnson) 13

PENN STATE (Nate Buller) 14 (O/T)

A B1G battle for the conference tournament between these football rivals. The visiting Wolverines held a 3 goal advantage over the home Nittany Lions. This BTN  televised this exciting game as the teams battled back and forth in the 4th Q.  The MU team tied it up to send the game into O/T. So appropriately, Mac O’Keefe scored the winning goal, his 6th in the extra period. This GWG was so right because the PSU attackman, earlier,  scored the 213th of his career to become the NCAA all-time goals leader. Neither  Bear was credited any playing time.

Other Games

ARMY (Drennan Greene) 12

Boston U 8

The Black Knights gave up the first goal and responded with 6 straight goals. The win put the home team in the Patriot League 2nd place. The Terriers committed 9 penalties for 7:40 minutes; so, Drennan Greene and the USMA EMO unit accumulated a lot of playing time and 3 goals.

BUCKNELL (Colin O’Brien, Drew Wellington) 7

Robert Morris 8 (O/T)

This match between the  Patriot League and an independent (whose W/L record needs to fatten up if a hope of NCAA is to be real) was a Friday night televised game. The Bison and the Colonials were in a back-and-forth match until the 3rd quarter when the Western Pa team  scored 3 and zeroed the Bison. With 2 CTs Drew and his D fought hard as their O came to life with 4 tallies in the last period. Too little, too late . ColinDNP

CLEVELAND STATE (Justin Connor) 4

BELLARMINE 11

Justin does not appear on the roster. It appears that he is in law school.

DENVER (Ryan Giles) 10

GEORGETOWN 11 (O/T)

The Big Hoyas scrambled the Big East standings by having their FOGO juggernaut (one Yale transfer went 4-12) destroyed by James Reilly who Xed at a 16-24 rate.  [Coach Tierney, you should know that #64 is awesome as a wing.] The visiting ‘Pio’s led until 5 minutes in Q4 and the home team tied the score with 2:38 remaining. Georgetown won the O/T faceoff, controlled the ball for almost 3 minutes (4 shots) and one was the winning goal.

JOHNS HOPKINS (Joey Epstein) 11

RUTGERS 17

Joey, back in the starting lineup, took eight shots, tallied four goals and two assists.

LOYOLA (Cam James) 12

navy 14

in another game with impact on the Patriot Tournament, but was just a warm up for arch rival Army, the Middies had a 10-5 advantage at half and fought off the Greyhounds to a tie with less than 5:00. The visitors in North Baltimore scored twice to seal a win. The former USNA recruit must have been withheld so his former mates did not seek vengeance to the man who jumped the ship.

MARYLAND (Justin Shockey, John Geppert, Matt Kopp, Griffin Brown)

OSU

The #1 Terps will seek to complete an undefeated B1G season against the Buckeyes’ on Sunday at home.

St. Joseph’s (Thomas Halm) 15

BRYANT 5

Tom Halm continues his rehab as his Hawks stayed on top of the NEC standings with a convincing win over #2 Bryant. The visitors led  all 4 periods played in RI.

TOWSON (Mo Sillah) 9

UMASS 6

The Tigers beat CAA opponents, the Minutemen, in Amherst by scoring 9 goals in the first two periods. LSM Mo scooped his 19th GB (2nd on team) but did not add to its team leading CTs.

VIRGINIA (Ryan Pride) 18

UTAH 11

UVA’S uber competitive schedule offered a pause against the 3rd season Utes and the game was on ESPNU. The Wahoos took a 11-6 lead at half, but the visitors did not fold. At the 6-6 tie, UVa went on a seven score stream. Ryan Pride played against UU.
