BEARS HOCKEY 5 BULLIS 4 in a shootout

Winning a 2nd consecutive IAC regular season title and moving up the MAPHL standings to #2 in the league made Senior Night Special for the eight members of the Bears 2025 class. More importantly, Coach Parker, the consummate teacher/mentor/coach, had an opportunity to take his charges through four important lessons— 1.dealing with an opponent that also plays with a high level of aggressive energy, 2.coming back from a 2 goal deficit,3. scoring a last second tying goal with no one in their nets and 4.winning in a S/O. When Bullis hits the ice, you can expect a physical battle, and it was exactly that—Landon scored 2 PP goals on 3 opportunities. All of these lessons will serve the team well in both  playoffs. They know that Coach trusts them and that the Bears can overcome adversities.

BEATING THE BULLDOGS of POTOMAC is always great.

The blue-and-yellow visitors got on the board 1st, tallying at 6:50. The white-and-brown Bears responded @ 0:09 as #21 ELI SMINK #10 OWEN MOORE combined with #3 REID PERHKON to restore a 0 goal margin.

One of the benefits of Landon’s fitness is that they are able to play aggressively for the full 900 seconds. With 0:09 remaining in this period and in the midst of a PP; #13 WATTS COLCLOUGH connected with #3 REID and #10 OWEN MOORE for a go ahead goal.

Over the first 15 minutes, Landon’s put 10 SOGs; while Bullis was able to pepper #30JACK LICALSI with 7 SOGs, all but 1 saved.

Again, the team from Potomac started the period with energy—scoring 3 unanswered goals between 11:43 and 6:57. The Bethesda team replied @4:41, again with the benefit of a PP with #21 ELI and #13 WATTS credited with apples and #3 REID notching his 2nd goal- the energizer Bears were able to start a comeback.

The middle “inning” saw Landon put 11 SOGs while Bullis exceeded their 1st period of 8 SOGs- #30 JACK saved  4.

End of period #2 BULLDOGS 4 BEARS 3

The final period of regulation time showed that Bullis is well-coached- every chance to ice the puck, they preserved the 1 score advantage, icing the puck and consuming precious seconds. But these deleterious tactics still left the Bears enough time to tie–@0:04 SKATING 6 ON 5 (#30 ON THE BENCH), #10 OWEN and #13 TRIPP SILVA were able to get the puck to #3 REID for the tying goal (his 21st MAPHL goal)

Landon was able to shoot 6 pucks on neck and #30 JACK stopped all 5 BULLIS attempts

END OF REGULATION BEARS 4 BULLDOGS 4

These games are decided now on shootouts. One key for the BEARS was that #7 freshman MAX MARKATOS beat the BULLDOG netminder in the last round. Trust this Greek BEARING GOALS.

Then #30 JACK WAS NOT FOOLED BY THE POTOMAC SCHOOL’S THREE TOP MAPHL SCORERS.
