Bears Hockey 1 Cadets 3

The St. John’s College High School hockey team has a 10-3-1 overall record and a 5-2-1 MAPHL W/L/T, averaging 4.6 gpg and only 2.2 gpg. The Cadets were the Bears’ toughest opponents-SJCHS’ roster posed test in  speed, execution and physicality (13 penalties between the home team (6) and the visitors (7))unmatched by the Landon opponent in their brief 2022 campaign.

Once again, Coach Parker’s team outshot ( 31-12) their opponent and the Cadets’ goalie was hard to beat. His charges showed determination and did not back down to SJCHS skaters in this non-league game. Though losing may be odious, this strong effort provides the Bears with a foundation from which to build. Twelve years of watching Landon hockey is the basis for a statement- the Landon March performance is always a significant improvement over the early season

The first period was typical in that the two teams were feeling each other out. The 1st goal was tallied about ½ way through the initial 15 minutes—SJCHA at 6:29. The Bears did not back down and @5:04 a streaking REID PEHRKON (perhaps OWEN MOORE) released a shot as he was being pulled down and ARTHUR SMINK corralled the rebound to equal the score.

JACK LiCALSI – 5 SAVES, 1 GA; BEAR O 13 SOGs 1 GOAL

End Of 1st Period Bears 1 Cadets 1

Period 2 saw SJCHS convert a PP opportunity at 11:13- one of 5 SOGs 15:01-30:00 (Jack L 4 saves) while the Bear O put 10 SOGs over this stanza.

Period 3 saw another score by the team from Chevy Chase on a very nice breakaway. Facing a 2 goal disadvantage the Bears continued to play hard and smart—8 SOGs.
