D-I
THIS WEEK’S GAME
DENVER (Ryan Giles) 9
Utah 8
The Pioneers got off to a very slow start in their season opener, trailing Utah 3-1 at the half. Denver came out of the halftime break with a more effective offensive attack and rallied to take the lead in the closing seconds of the quarter. The Pioneers extended that lead to three goals in the fourth but Utah fought their way back, pulling within one goal just under two minutes left in regulation. By winning the ensuing face off and with the aid of a Utah penalty, Denver was able to possess the ball until time ran out.
