The Bears spent the last 2 days in the Showplace Arena in PG county competing in the Melee On The Metro. In the end, the team placed 2nd out of 21 teams. We were behind St. Benedicts Prep from Newark NJ by 24.5 points. In this competition, you are allowed to enter two varsity wrestlers per weight, but only 1 scores team points. We double entered at 190 and 285 where we have excellent depth in our line-up. Unfortunately, we were missing two starters and only filled 12 weight classes. Joel Brown was voted the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament by the coaches when he pinned a wrestler from Benedictine who is ranked the #2 in Virginia Private States.
Here were our place winners:
106 Joe Papalia 4th place
113 James Hanley Champion
120 Theo Shockey 6th place
138 Connor Koegel 6th place

190 David LaPrade 2nd place
190 Anthony Savoy 3rd Place
215 Tiller Smith Champion
