SOCCER 2-2-1

Coach Reed’s sidehad no games this week. Notes from the Coach– The soccer team has been busy these last few weeks.  Wins over WIS and previously #2 ranked Bishop McNamara were followed by a close loss to St. Paul’s and the Heights.  Yesterday we travelled to a college showcase event in PA, to play in front of 80+ college coaches.  Our opponent, Northwood School in Lake Placid, NY, is a co-ed boarding school that has a residential soccer academy attached to it.  Non-traditional setup, but they are becoming more frequent.  Their roster featured players from Europe, Africa and all over the Caribbean and Central America.  They had players already committed to highly ranked NCAA Division I teams, like Georgetown, Syracuse and West Virginia.  We tied them 0 – 0 through ninety minutes in front of dozens of coaches who came to watch Northwood play and were treated to a defensive, focused, and motivated display from our boys.  Many players stood out with our goalkeeper, Luke Tegeris, being chief among them.  He was outstanding from wire to wire.
