Apologies for the almost month long absence of this feature; travel and computer problems have limited the ability to research and write these bits of information.
Feedback from the readers of BSN is critically important to the future content of this site. The piece celebrating the life of Steve Rupp received the greatest response of the 700 written materials posted here over the past four years. The message is that you want to hear about the great people who are part of the Landon community. Thank you for such clear feedback.
John Nichols does a great job of highlighting the many Bear vs. Bear lacrosse games; so it is particularly pleasing to report for the first time in the history of Bear hockey a Bear vs. Bear confrontation on college ice. Last night RPI skated against Quinnipiac and at the start of the 3rd period, the Engineers put Jake Sofer in the nets against Sam Anas. The Bobcats forward had already scored a goal and assisted on two more; the RPI netminder got his first minutes against an ECAC team and stopped 11 of the 12 shots by the nation’s #7 team. Bear Wrestling
From Coach Katz—
The young Bears gained confidence across the board as they went 2-2 today at the BCC Baron Duals. Several wrestlers went 4-0 for the day, including Isaac Engermann (106), Jarett Witzal (160/170), and Jules Desroches (220). Three wrestlers went 3-1 for the day, Hayden Pingle (113), Ben Goodfriend (132), and Zack Zulauf. Many other wrestlers notched their first victories in a dual meet this year, including Mitchell Pan (120), Evan Pugh (126), Justin Conner (138/145), Miles Franklin (152), Brian Gelb (170), and Josh Hunter (195). With a little more match experience, the Bears could have taken all four duals. The first IAC match is next Friday at Prep (defending IAC champs). Also of note, Jake Mehlman went 2-0 in exhibitions and Derek Hankim won an exhibition as well.
Team Scores:
BCC 40 Landon 36

Landon 54 TC Williams 27

Landon students excel in unsung sports
For those of us who went to Landon when football was mandatory and soccer was played in the winter, it is mind boggling to read about hockey, water polo, rugby and other new varsity sports. The Landon’s Communications Department and Jonathan Haskin ’14published a great story about Bears who perform on a national basis in speed skating and trampoline & tumbling. For those who do not subscribe to the school’s email service, here is this wonderful piece.
