NSIDE THE WHITE ROCKS— 

  • This week:

  • Lacrosse “most exciting” O/T win over #2 Gonzaga and then beat StA

  • Baseball splits with StA 2-1 and 1-2. Player as Bear POW.

  • Rugby week off ; 

  • Golf lost a close match to StA and played in 3 way match;

BEAR TRACKS—

47 Bears in 9 sports and 4 levels (5 pros included)

On the same week, two Bear Brothers Patrick L*18 and Ryan L’20 Giles were featured by their teams

  • SOCCER– Pro—DC United player, Bear ‘23,  significant playing time

WINTER SPORTS

  • BASKETBALL- Pro is 🔼 his stats

  • HOCKEY – Bear player is highlighted as a prospect for the NHL team that holds his rights,

SPRING SPORTS

  • BASEBALL-6—Two are 5th year players and 4 other Div. III –all contributors. TWO BEARS ARE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTERS TO THEIR NATIONALLY RANKED DIV.III TEAMS. One Bear earns UAA player of week at new university. Four showing upticks in stats🔼

  • GOLF-2 players

  • LACROSSE –13 DIV.I, 10 DIV.III– total of 17 teams. On college player is the poster player for his team.

  • Rugby- 1—THERE’S GOT TO BE MORE????

INSIDE THE WHITE ROCKS

BASEBALL Coach Martinez split with StA 2-1 and 1-2 and a Bear/future Cavalier wins Bear of the week

GOLF Coach Luther’s team lost to StA by 5 strokes and in a triangular competition (Paul VI and McDonogh shot 197.  

LACROSSE Coach McGettigan, with his Mom in the stands, orchestrated an incredibly exciting comeback/overtime over DMV’s #2 Gonzaga 11-10 and then beat traditional rival StA 16-5

RUGBYCoaches Beckoff and Klingelhofer’s ruggers prepare for another match against Gonzaga (?).

TENNIS Coach Miller’s net men beat the Purple Eagles and then almost beat StA 3-4 :

TRACK and Field is at Reservoir High School for a Saturday meet and senior Ari Kalish set a Bear record in the 400 M hurdles.

  • Sam Cohen, L’23, Tulane University- at Drake Relays, no results.

  • Kristian Fletcher L’23: — (DC United 2-1-4) 7 GP, 1 GS, 193 min. 1G; played in loss to NYCFC.

  • Jake Davidson L’19 (Catholic Cardinals 26-9) #35  

  • Jack Cope L ‘20 (W&L Generals 15- 16) 2 AP, 1.1 IP, 0 ER, 2 SO,   

  • Matthew Sicoli L’21 (Emory Eagles 21-14-1) 36 GP 152 AB .401, 45 RBI, 7 HR, 🔼 

  • Robbie Lee L’22, (#2 ranked Denison Big Red 30-4) #44 is 5-1, 1 save, 35.0 IP, 42 SO  

  • Henry Prince L’22 (Bates College Bobcats 12-16) #31 17 GS, 61 AB, .344, 15 RBI 

GOLF-2

  • Charlie Bundy L’22 (College of William & Mary Tribe) team earned 8th in 2024 CAA Men’s Golf Championships.  Bundy, a sophomore, put up a 76 in round three after scores of 73 and 75 in the first two rounds. He finished the week with the second most pars in the field over the 54-holes, racking up 39.
