The Uber confidant Purple Eagles, led by a bagpipe player who also was a GCHS middie, flocked on Buchanan Field with 10 Division I commits and 3 Div. III studs and a Ty Zander (the IL guru was in attendance) #16 national ranking. Their expectations, unspoken, were that this would be an easy romp on the Eye Street Bear visitors. Their vision seemed to be realistic early, particularly during the 2nd period, but the Bears, much to the frustration of the Gonzaga coaches, won the second half 5-2.

The home team won the 1st face-off and scored at 0:08 expired in the game.

The Bears equalized the score on a Guy King pass to Joey Graham for Bear #1 goal @10:12

The next 12 minutes did not fare as well for the Bears. The GCHS players tallied 6 times (at11:15, 10:23,10:15, 4:28 and 2:09) and most of them were the stickwork of one of the home team players, who has not yet committed (Ty Zander’s presence?).

Landon’s EMO used its advantage to score @9:58 on a Joey G pass to Will Carlson. Zak Oehlerking legally completed a dive shot @ 0:28 for the 3rd Bear goal.

The remainder of the game was all Bears, shutting out the home team and added two more goals.

On a fast break, Billy Banfield beat several defenders and entered the Landon O zone. His pass to Joey G resulted in the Bears’ 7th goal. Refusing to give up, Garrett Kurtz sped past several defenders and ended the game with a nice goal @0:41.
