Having attended most Landon hockey games since 2010 and having seen exceptional players (including 2 pros and more than a few college skaters), but acknowledging no claim to expertise, the quality of play of the 2022 roster is exceptional all throughout the roster. Forechecking/backchecking, positional play, HUSTLE, tape-to-tape passing, SPEED- by forwards and defense and all highly energetic—is above past November/December play.

Prep, it is believed, already played in a tournament. The Bears were skating against an opponent on ice for the first time. Though technical neither an IAC nor MAPHL league game, Landon took the game to WH?, containing the visitors to their D zone, peppering their goalie with 14 SOG in the 1^st period while protecting the Bear goalie – 0 SOGs until 5:44, and only 3 at the end of period1.

The next frame saw the home team move the puck up the ice into the O zone and clearing when GP entered the Bears Den D zone.

Early in this second stanza (@ 14:38) Quin Farland fed Owen Calderone and he deposited the biscuit in the proverbial bucket Bears 1 White Rocks 2. Later in the middle period, Graham Herbert passed to “Best Bear Hair” Zaakir Kahn who beat the GP Goalie for Landon’s 2^nd tally.

Philip Sears saw more black rubber hurtling at this nets and stopped all 5 SOGs. The Bear 0 racked up 14 SOGs. At the end of the second period, Landon incurred its 1^st two minute sojourn in the sin bin.

The Zamboni showed its scraping skills during this intermission.

Out of the locker room with greater energy, the Little Hoyas put more pucks on net and at 0:56 recorded their 1^st and only goal—result of the  powerplay advantage.

This last 15 minutes was marked by constant GP pressure, frustrated by Landon checking. The visitors SOGs = 8 and the home team tested the opposing G 9 times.
