Wrap Up | April 2019

Apr 30, 2019

I haven’t done a wrap up since my January wrap up earlier this year, although I’m not really sure why. Anyway, April turned out to be a pretty good month for me reading and life wise. I had a great birthday on April 15th and then attended Easter Con over the Eater weekend which has helped to greatly improve my mood over the past two weeks. I’m still struggling quite a lot with a particularly nasty Masters report I have to submit soon but that’s for future me to worry about. For now, let’s recap on all the great April things ❤

April turned out to be a surprisingly good reading month for me which I hadn’t expected given my birthday, con attending and deadline! As I managed to read 6 books it also means that I passed my O.W.Ls with Exceeds Expectations grade and I passed the 4 subjects I need for my Magizoologist career. Now I just remember to actually sit the NEWTs in a few months time… In addition to the 6 books that I read, I also read 2 short stories: JY Yang’s ‘Circus Girl, Hunter, Mirror Boy‘ and Sarah Gailey’s ‘STET‘. My book of the month is The Tea Dragon Society because it was so pure and wholesome.

If anyone has been following my WWW Wednesday posts then you will already know that it has been taking me an age to play through Divinity: Original Sin 2 and I’m still not done. I’m on the last act of the game though so hopefully it won’t take me too much longer… I did also manage to slip in What Remains of Edith Finch at the beginning of the month when I wanted a break from Divinity and really loved it. It gave me a lot of thoughts about the representation of death in video games, especially walking simulators, so I might try to compile those thoughts together at some point for an article.

I’m also ashamed to say that I haven’t even been playing my Switch after spending all of that money on it in January! I basically (mostly) finished playing Let’s Go: Eevee then got sidetracked with PC gaming and reading so I want to rectify this next month…

I’m fairly happy with how my blogging and reading went this month but I’m definitely looking forward to Moody May next month. I’ve been in such a mood for mood reading but didn’t want to mess about too much with my OWLs Readathon TBR. In case you missed my State of the ARC post, I also mentioned that I’m going to be taking a step back from ARCs for at least a month or two so that I can read without the pressure of reviewing as it has definitely been slowing my reading down.
