Will the Real St. Nicholas (aka Santa Claus) Please Stand Up?

It was my intent to post some thoughts about the origin of Santa Claus, who he was rumored to be in the early church, speak to his evolution to a jolly man in a red suit, etc. But two of my favorite bloggers – Kevin DeYoung and Nathan Busenitz – beat me to the punch. So I am going to simply refer you to their articles to read for an unbiased view of St. Nicholas. Please read them carefully, and I believe you will be pleasantly surprised by who this man likely was. Here are the links:

• “My Favorite Santa Claus Story” by Kevin DeYoung

If St. Nicholas knew what we have turned him into today, he would be appalled.
