Who makes Kirkland products? (Part 1 of 3)

I have written a few posts about the high quality of Kirkland products–with respect to individual products (e.g., Product Review: Kirkland Organic Greek Yogurt; Product Review: Kirkland Albacore tuna) and in general (More Top Notch Kirkland Products;Kirkland Products: 12 to buy). I have wondered in the past about who makes some of their products. I like to determine the “real” brand behind the store brands at other stores (e.g., Trader Joe’s; Aldi’s) and have guessed at a few of Costco’s items.

Here I will briefly discuss some of the items on the list–there are many about which I have little to say (I know, I know, hard to imagine me having little to say about much of anything…but it does happen!) Because there are a lot of items listed, I will break it into three posts.

1. Ocean Spray Juice

Kirkland Name: Kirkland Signature Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice Kirkland Price Per Unit: $0.71*

I used to really enjoy cranberry juice and would often buy the store brand at other grocery stores. I very rarely look at drinks (aside from milk and water bottles) at Costco (I was under the impression that they are not one of the better deals) so I did not even think about who was likely to make this juice.

2. Huggies

Nothing to add on this one!

3. Pureology Moisture Hair Care

Kirkland Name: Kirkland Signature Moisture Shampoo Kirkland Price Per Unit: $9.99*

Good timing given my most recent post (Product Review: Shea Moisure 100% Extra Virgin Coconut Oil Shampoo and Conditioner). As I mentioned, I was looking for assistance with which brand to buy at Costco–maybe I should give this a try.

4. Persil Laundry Detergent

Kirkland Name: Kirkland Signature Ultra-Clean Kirkland Price Per Unit: $11*

My family tends to buy detergent at other stores when it is on great deals so I don’t think I have ever actually tried Costco’s variety.

5. George Dickel Bourbon

Kirkland Name: Kirkland Premium Small Batch Bourbo Kirkland Price Per Unit: $19.99*

Although I have little to say about it, I have written before about the alcohol at Costco (Alcohol at Costco (Part 1 of 2); Alcohol at Costco (Part 2 of 2).

6. Ehrmann Yogurt

Kirkland Name: Kirkman Signature Organic Greek Yogurt Kirkland Price Per Unit: $3.80*

I love this yogurt and have reviewed it in the past (Product Review: Kirkland Organic Greek Yogurt). I actually have never heard of Ehrmann yogurt but a quick Google search shows that it is located in several countries in Europe and Asia.

7. Reynolds Aluminum Foil

Kirkland Name: Kirkland Signature Reynolds Foil Kirkland Price Per Unit: $5*

Definitely a good buy. We have bought this and the Costco Saran Wrap in the past and it feels like it will be a lifetime supply! In addition to the quality of the foil itself, one of the benefits of it being a quality brand is that the container is high quality. I have bought lower quality foil in the past and when I have tried to rip off a piece, sometimes the entire roll comes out and/or the foil barely rips. It is helpful to have a sturdy box!

8. Starbucks Coffee

Kirkland Name: Kirkland Signature Espresso Blend Kirkland Price Per Unit: $14.89*

I do not drink coffee but I imagine that this is a huge bonus for people who love Starbuck’s coffee and can buy it much cheaper this way.
