Who is the Greatest Rap Artist Ever?

I created a poll that asked who is the greatest rap artist ever, and 40% answered with Eminem. The other options in the poll were Tupac, Biggie or another rapper.

When someone says this person is the greatest rap artist, what are they basing it off of? Are they judging a rapper’s technical ability, lyricism or how much they enjoy an artist’s music? Regardless on what’s your criteria for what the greatest rap artist needs to have, it’s hard to make that decision since music is subjective.

My pick for the greatest rap artist ever would be Kanye West. To me, his musical catalog is full of grade A albums including his collaboration albums, the only exceptions being Yeezus and Cruel Summer. Since he is a producer as well, he has an ear for what sounds good sonically and a knack for picking out samples that will elevate an instrumental. Not only does he have stellar lyrical tracks like Real Friends or All Falls Down to name a few, you can feel the energy every time he raps, so no one can accuse of him for not sounding passionate while on the mic. What puts Kanye above his peers is that his discography is more consistent compared to artists like Eminem and Drake, who have released excellent albums but not as many as Kanye has.
