Who Is God? (Part 1)

Sep 1, 2020
2 min read

I am going to make an attempt for the rest of the calendar year to write some devotional studies on selected attributes of God.

DISCLAIMER: These will not be lengthy. They are meant to be bite-size. Think of them as the size of the candies your kids get at Halloween.

Every Wednesday, I am going to overview another attribute of God that A.W. Tozer writes a chapter on in The Knowledge of the Holy. This book’s opening chapter has had more influence on me than any other extra-biblical book. If you don’t have the book, buy it, and read the first few pages. Those pages are “worth the price of admission.”

After explaining what each attribute means, I will mention its significance for us as Christians (or why it matters that God is a certain way), and then, if I remember, give a few discussion questions for your personal meditation or to be used over dinner with the family or some other small group setting.

The schedule, Lord willing, will be as follows.

  • September 9 – God Is Incomprehensible.

  • September 16 – God Is Self-existent.

  • September 23 – God Is Self-sufficient.

  • September 30 – God Is Eternal.

  • October 7 – God Is Immutable.

  • October 14 – God is Omniscient.

  • October 21 – God Is Omnipotent.

  • October 28 – God Is Transcendent.

  • November 4 – God Is Omnipresent.

  • November 11 – God Is Faithful.

  • November 18 – God Is Good.

  • November 25 – God is Just.

  • December 2 – God Is Merciful.

  • December 9 – God Is Gracious.

  • December 16 – God Is Love.

  • December 23 – God Is Holy.

  • December 30 – God Is Sovereign.
