What’s the call?
If you’re a tennis magazine fan of Friend at Court, what’s the call here? This happened Saturday night during our Philly 40+ 9.0 match. I was on the adjacent court.

And you thought you’ve seen everything possible on a tennis court?!?! I believe this was done in a game winning excitement after winning the match. And the answer is…
If it was an officiated match, racket abuse would be called. This follows normal protocol for code violations. The first violation is a penalty point, then a game, then default.
In an officiated match, it’s incumbent upon the person who did it to call it upon themselves – just like contacting the net with the ball in still in play.
If the match is over, there’s no penalty carry over like there is in collegiate tennis.
We got the racket down by throwing rackets at the racket for 10 minutes. Thank you Marvin Hill and Sally Baird for weighing in. Just a day in the life…
