What is CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol. While CBD is an essential component of medical marijuana, it is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant. It does not contain THC and is approved for use by USADA (US Anti-Doping Agency).

Does CBD work?
“Yes, there is evidence that CBD works for some conditions, but certainly not all the conditions it is being promoted for these days. There’s no evidence, for example, that CBD cures cancer. There is moderate evidence that CBD can improve sleep disorders, fibromyalgia pain, muscle spasticity related to multiple sclerosis, and anxiety.“
If you google, “does CBD really do anything” you’ll get the response above. My experience has been much different. CBD cream has enabled me to quickly recover from mild to moderate muscle strains, aches, and decrease the recovery time from more serious injuries.
Currently, CBD products are considered supplements, which aren’t FDA-regulated, and it is illegal for companies to make health or therapeutic claims about the products in their marketing.
Most tennis players I know have some nagging injuries. CBD cream in my mind is an essential part of sports medicine / therapy and it has enabled me to play as much tennis as I can fit into my schedule. In Pennsylvania, you can purchase CBD oil in Holistic/Health stores currently. It’s not available at CVS, GNC, or Target yet, but it’s coming. Please reach out with any questions.
