Westside Gunn- Hitler Wears Hermes 8: Sincerely Adolf Review

Griselda’s Run in hip hop has to possibly be one of the most impeccable in recent memory. These brothers from Buffalo New York(Westside Gunn, Conway The Machine, and Benny The Butcher) have resurrected the grimey NY scene and further opened up doors for many to excel in that lane. After years of independent releases and mixtapes, It was only a matter of time before the big dogs started checking them. They’ve done deals with Eminem and JayZ respectfully which further elevated their base overtime which led to more of the industry being curious to what these guys are bringing to the table.

What made Westside Gunn standout at times is his high pitched delivery and adlibs(which can annoy you depending on the listener). His abstract creativity(which is obviously influenced by Kanye West) is definitely felt. From the weird album/mixtape covers, The Hitler references, The ode to Wrestling lingo. He could be seen as a weirdo. But when it comes to choosing production and features, Westside is a brilliant architect and would possibly make a great A&R or future curator for future projects.

This project is the final enstallment to the Hitler Wears Hermes series and he goes out with a bang. Difference between this project and others is that he seemingly took a backseat and wanted to showcase the talents of The Griselda Roster. Steve Cooks God proves that he’s definitely ready next to bat on the Draymond, Vogue Cover, Mariorta and the all star featured Westsimer featuring Boldy James, Sauce Walka and Boldy James

And the dope features don’t stop here.. Lil Wayne continues his dope features run on Bash Money which is possibly one of the hardest verses he’s done in years.. Jay Electronica makes a surprise cameo on Free Cutter and even a guest lists range from Tyler the Creator to AZ kicking rhymes like its 95 on 99 Avererx. The dope thing about HWH8 is that it never loses its flow structure. Its strictly hardcore hip hop rhymes and pounding production paying homage to the golden era of the past. If they aren’t paying homage to wrestlers(Brodie Lee, Eddie Kingston, WWF Survival Series 1995) or paying homage to the legendary groups of the gold era(Mobb Deep on Hell on Earth Part 2). Griselda have finally found their lane within hip hop and its only the beginning

King Eric: 9.0 Outta 10.
