Welcome to week eight, everyone! This weekend, USC Linguistics hosted Tu+ 10, the annual conference on Turkic and Languages in Contact with Turkic! See below for some photos of the fun, as well as the usual announcements.

Remember, if you have news to share, please submit your news for future issues of SCling Wrap, cause we need your help keeping up with what’s ✨fresh✨ at USC Linguistics.

In the community👥

USC Linguistics was well-represented in presentations, in both the talks and the poster session. Scenes from the poster session below feature, clockwise from the upper left, graduate students Peter O’Neill and Zhendong Liu, graduate student JK Subramony, graduate student Nelli Marutyan, and graduate student Jack Goldberg presenting and discussing their work.

Fantastic refreshments were enjoyed by all, catered by Dolan’s Uyghur Cuisine!

Individual spotlights, clockwise from upper left: faculty member Deniz Rudin with the newest department member Charlie Shih Rudin, graduate students Esra Eldem-Tunç and Mete Oğuz, alum Luismi Toquero Pérez (faculty at CSU Fullerton), graduate student Jack Goldberg, and faculty member and chair Andrew Simpson, with a repeat appearance by Charlie!

Thanks to the USC organizing crew (top) for a great conference (subset of attendees in bottom picture)!

See you all at Tu+ 11!
