Welcome to week four of the semester, everyone, and (finally!) to longer days of sunlight!

Remember, if you have news to share, please submit your news for future issues of SCling Wrap, cause we need your help keeping up with what’s ✨fresh✨ at USC Linguistics.

Look Who’s Talking 🗣

  • Graduate student Linh Pham and faculty member Andrew Simpson gave a talk titled “The syntax of null possessors with kinship terms and body parts nouns in Vietnamese” at the 5th International Symposium of Vietnamese Linguistics.

In the community 👥

Faculty member Sandy Disner gave a guest lecture with Gene Franz (Rice U.) on the history of speech synthesis in the Gridspace lecture series on the fundamentals of constructing sound with machines for MIT’s Independent Activities Period.

Other good news 🎉

To celebrate Lunar New Year, USC Linguistics grad students enjoyed some dim sum!
