Tobi's new music monster

Artist:

PERK Track:“Something’s Gotta Give” With a quietly percussive snakebitten acoustic rattle, Scandinavian two piece, PERK, release exquisitely crafted melodic pop delight, “Something’s Gotta Give” ; a slow burn, defiant serenade in memoriam. Verses set restless, upon a shifting, smoldering ambient, uncoil into choruses driven by elegantly orchestrated use of harmony, through embered backing vocal and darkly contrasting instrumentation. “Something’s Gotta Give”, is a willful testament of both subject and Artistic Intent ; an embittered refusal to be broken by jilted love, and impassioned deliverance of a pop song with high musical values, in the face of so much dumbed down chartpop. A song born in the shadows, standing out all the more, for the slew of new singles courting the bright summer sunshine.

Artist:

Fleurie Track:“Chasing Stars” Singer Songwriter, Fleurie, gets lost in electro hot, long pop summer night, sound escape, “Chasing Stars”. Percussive layers play the frequency and stereo range alike, creating a pulsating experience of constantly shifting sonic space. Chasing from one auditory sensation to another, ambiance at speed, the track intoxicates. The well placed musical elements, allow Fleurie’s voice to float free and light, unencumbered as it is, by heavy handed Vox FXs, so prevalent in modern pop. Her vocals gently vapored in sustain by the tasteful use of reverb. In “Chasing Stars”, Fleurie has crafted a musical experience that echoes and enhances the lyrical. A song for the prolonged summer twilight, arms locked around those of who you love, in pursuit of the interstellar vista haze, lost in the perfect pop dream of outrunning the daybreak.

Artist:

Patawawa Track:“Fighting Me” Derbyshire (UK) based, self described, DIY Disco Pop Outfit, Patawawa, drop, stop/start, funk soul, electro pop sonic infused, groovefest, new single, “Fighting Me”. Beth Garrett’s vocals stand tall, as she snarls, growls and struts her way through the accomplished, multi-instrumental arrangement. Smart use of contrasting harmony, timing and instrument timbre, backed up with a tight, disciplined ‘in house’ mix + master, allow the three piece band to indulge their musical imaginings with a dazzling array of melodic and percussive elements. Drawing upon an indulgent variety of ‘good time’ genres, both pre and post synthesizer, successfully blended to complement each other, “Fighting Me” is the new anthem to your summer night out.
