Week in Review – 29 Aug 2010

Hi. Tired and busy doing important stuff (like watching the Emmys and stuffing myself with Mint Chocolate Cookies) so we’ll just let the photos do the talking this week…
Peter and dad had fun on Friday, as you can see from their post. Peter is addicted to Juice Stop, if you weren’t already aware; the Slap Shot smoothie to be precise. And actually, I have other friends with kiddos also addicted, so I can only guess that they add some sort of Toddler Crack to the stuff.

Friday we checked out the Final Fridays downtown. Good time! Couldn’t hang out too long, given the child’s bedtime, but we had a good time with what little we saw. Also, Peter got a new pair of shoes (because I can’t walk into Blue Dandelion without finding some new thing for Doots; it is a talent of mine that Scott really appreciates).

This week was sooooo mild (ha! high 80s = ‘mild’, oh summers in Kansas really do a number on your psyche). We were actually able to turn off the AC for a good 4-5 days, it got downright chilly at night (50s) and we were able to work a system of opening up/closing the house to keep in the wonderful cooler air. Oh! And we actually spent a good chunk of time outside, enjoying the weather.
As of Saturday, it’s temps back into the 90s and highly humid, boo. But! It was nice while it lasted. I am so ready for the fall, you guys.

Saturday we attended Binyamin’s 2nd birthday party; there were several inflatable pool-ish items in the yard, leis for the guests, and lots and lots of Sponge-Bob-themed goodness. We had a blast 🙂

We ran a ton of errands this weekend, I swear there are more with every coming week. How does that happen?? Anyway, we hit up the Merc on our way home from the Saturday party, and grabbed – amongst other goodies – our new favorite pickle. Of all time. Kate and Nik – get thee some Bubbies pickles. OMG! They are fermented rather than the usual vinegar process, and therefore have a tart, delightfully sour flavor (akin to sauerkraut). The three of us have inhaled these things. There are only two pickles left in that jar.

I had Book Club this week, and met up with friends a few nights in the evenings – busy week for Nemmie! Next week I have nothing going on in the evenings and holy moly, I almost don’t know what to do with myself. Maybe I clean the house, and work on my sewing projects, and maybe get working on my current writing project…
Oh, and I joined a gym. Running outside = not so much for me. I like my TV, and magazines, and temperature-control. And lack of homeless people.
I asked Scott what things he’s been up to that he wants me to include, and he was all, “um, nothing”. Sigh, men. Well, he’s been helping with the cooking more this week, including a lovely dinner tonight of grilled peppers, sausages, and a pesto-topped Parmesan polenta. Sooooo, yeah, considering my dinnertime culinary offerings the week before that included tuna salad sandwiches, crockpot meals, and frozen pizza? That whole “helping more with the cooking” is a big help, right there.

Peter discovered a new way to swing at the park. And, yeah, probably learned a bunch of other stuff, but I don’t have pictures of those things and therefore no immediate recall. Mother of the Year, that’s me.

Next week’s update won’t be as lame, I promise. Have a great week!
