So I have been sitting at the computer with this page open for AN HOUR now, but instead have been goofing around online because I have no desire to type anything. However the news is winding down and I need to take a shower, so I just gotta do it.

Not a ton to report since the last update. This weekend we had no plans, ZERO. That means I had a massive To-Do list of stuff to get done. Worked on wedding photos, and when I felt like I was going cross-eyed from those, I worked on photos from our Minneapolis trip (you know, that happened a million years ago and I still haven’t had time to finish). Pete and I hit up some yard sales Saturday morning while Scott went to the market. I think it’ll be our new Saturday morning adventure when we don’t tag along to the market, we got drinks and moseyed about, found some good finds (really old Tonka trucks, including a crane-thing one, for three bucks TOTAL? Score), then got donuts to take home to celebrate our finds. He’s pretty good and patient if I tell him he can get a toy at the last yard sale stop.

Two other big projects this weekend: (1) thin out Pete’s toys, they are once again getting out of control. And (2), start going through all the baby stuff in the basement and getting things cleaned up. I dragged out the bassinet and bouncer and a few boxes, washed everything, and got the bassinet set up in the living room. Pete thought it was the most interesting thing ever, especially the removable Moses basket. Anyway though, I finally started getting ready for this Thing Happening In A Few Months.

I took Pete for a nice ride around the complex, first with his ‘motorcycle’ and then the Skuut bike. The aim was to wear him out, not sure if I really did that but whatever I tried.

Then we went home and screwed around until Scott took pity on us and took us out for pie/sundaes at Hubbard Ave. Diner.

Now: we’ve been here before, the hype about the pie is absolutely true. Sadly though, this time we never got any: they seated us, and we sat. And sat. And sat. Completely ignored, we finally got up and left after 20 minutes, no one even came by to say they’d be by in a minute or whatever. Which: I’d be more forgiving if they were busy, but the place was pretty dead that night – not sure what was going on but it was a bummer. Pete was pretty sad but we gave him one of his favorite popsicles (TJs fruit floes, those things are so good) so he perked up nicely.

Sunday we had no plans, either. Our biggest accomplishment was going to the pool.

We got a lot of chores done as well, and also opened our annual Bastille Day package from Anne. Full of awesome goodies as usual 🙂

That evening Scott packed up a picnic for us and we headed to Law Park, to watch the Mad City Ski Team do their Sunday evening show on Lake Monona.

They have a ‘junior team’, which is essentially parents skiing with the kids strapped to their front. Pete was ecstatic, and told me that we had to join. He told me he’d hold the rope and demonstrated how he would do so.

7-14-17

Uh, no. No water-skiing for you.

After the show, we packed up and found a Chocolate Shoppe nearby.

I was stooooooffed so left the ice cream eating to the guys. Pete, as usual, was a slow poke with his rainbow ‘sugar’ (sherbet). After he FINALLY ate the last bite and scraped the bottom of the cup for awhile, Scott took it from him to kindly toss while I got Pete in the car. What ensued was total devastation.

“I wanted to drink the juice! Dad threw away my ice cream juice! Now my juice is in the garbage…”. Oh, the humanity. Let me just mention that there was approximately half a teaspoon of ‘juice’ left in that cup, too.

In case you were wondering why yes, he did pretty much pass out after we put him to bed, it’s as if he was overly tired or something.

Have a good week everyone! And don’t let anyone steal your ice cream juice, hold tight to that shizz.
