Week in Review – 10 November 2013
Hi, hi.

This is the only way I can stay awake these days, about 3-4 of these a morning.

Except in reality, after fighting my husband for the contents of the pot, I end up with about 2 mugs at best (that sneaky a-hole guzzles coffee like no one else). Oh well, I probably shouldn’t drink too much and then feed the baby, anyway.*
*Which is why I chug coffee, pump, and then freeze that milk to stock up daycare when Linus starts. Mwah hahahahahaha.
Where was I? Oh, yeah. Family stuff.
Ummmmm, yeah. We are in the throes of fussy babyhood. Linus has some Sad Baby days, and by Sad Baby days I mean he barely sleeps and fusses (at best) or screams his fool head off (at worst) all day and evening long. On the positive side: he’s only getting up 2 or maybe 3 times a night now, so we’re past the worst of the baby overnights. Uh, fingers crossed. And luckily, the fussy days are usually followed by a cannot-be-any-more-perfect kind of a baby day, for which I am pretty darn thankful. Hopefully this is a short phase. Fingers crossed. If not I will be stocking up on wine and mastering the fine art of pump-and-dump in the near future 😉
ANYHOO. Because that sweet-cheeked little love is in the throes of the newborn fussy stage, I have not busted out the camera as much as one would like to do. So you get some random shots from Saturday, when Scott spent the morning at the market and I was alone with the boys. Linus was content and calm (Saturday was a pretty chill day for the Moose man) and so he just kinda hung out with Pete and watched cartoons.

Other than that, I didn’t bust out the camera very much. Although there was that time on Saturday night when Pete was rummaging through our recycling container and told me he was going to be the Statue of Liberty. Usually he digs out old cardboard and assembles assorted things, so I didn’t think much of it. Until I turned around and saw this:

Oh yay, a beer bottle. Proud mama, that’s me. Oh and also for some reason one of these past evenings, I took a picture of dinner (Toad in the Hole) and I was going to do… what… with it? I can’t remember exactly. Nor do I remember what night we had Toad in the Hole. But whatever, here’s a photo for posterity.

Sunday the baby fussed most of the day (see, every other day he’s fussy, I am telling you…) but by late afternoon he was calm as long as he was being held, so Scott strapped on the baby carrier while we hit up the Family Festival at Pete’s school. We got there kinda late, though, and as it turns out: even though it was advertised as open until 4:30pm, they start closing stuff up about 4pm. We got there at 3:45pm. Oops. So while they were already tearing down the games booths and most of the food was sold out, we were able to still dig around in the “Trash & Treasure” (or as Pete insists it is called, the “Josh to Treasure”) room, so basically it was a Thrift Store Paradise. Pete loved it, Looooooved it. And because we were there so late, everything was half off, so he was able to pick up twice as many toys as he would have gotten anyway. Rock on.

The games and food may have been all gone but HECK YES WE WERE ABLE TO BUY LITTLE BAGS OF WORN, SOME BROKEN MATCHBOX CARS! Thank goodness he is still so easily pleased, that little Doots guy.
And that’s about it, you guys. I’m going to feed the baby one last time and hit the hay. This is one of my last weeks at home, so we’re back to doing the old ‘test run’ to make sure we’re out the door on time in the mornings. I started out doing this and planned on doing it the entire time I was out, but uhhhh. Yeah, kinda flaked on that, I have been more of a half-an-hour-late-and-unshowered kinda mom the past several weeks. So anything I can do to make it easier once I’m back at work, the better.
Toodles! Will post again soon…
