Wednesday, Oct 18 Match Day!

Updates: Huston-Tillotson, like many schools, have a “Fan Zone” tab on their team website. Unlike every other school, there tab does nothing. Still don’t know where they will stream the match.

My Rangers are struggling but my Pirates are doing well so far. Up 2-1 and leading set four.

Both early matches finish 3-1 with St Thomas and Southwestern getting the wins.

I got to see Southwestern for the last two sets and they were a force. I’ve seen that in small spurts but not for two sets. It’s a huge win for them because it moves them a win ahead of Austin College for the last spot in the conference tournament. Now Austin College has more matches to play than Southwestern so they control their destiny but Southwestern looks to have stepped up.

Christina Kuras (SU) had 18 kills as the team hit 0.261 (their 3rd best for the season). They had 18 Points/Set, which is elite against a very good team.

PLU/UPS has started. Rangers need to get out of this inning. We have 9 more outs to get this tied or ahead.

30-28 for the Loggers. Expect nothing less from this rivalry match. Live Stats doesn’t seem to be working. Did you know that Puget Sound was the Loggers?

28-26 Loggers in set two. Good crowd for both sides there. Fun match. Much better funner than the Rangers tonight.

26-24 Lutes. All three sets have gone long.

PLU with the reverse sweep.

The PLU/UPS match had 9 ties and 5 lead changes in the fifth set that ended 15-13. PLU had 82 Points to UPS 80. Pretty close match.

Random Thoughts: Texas teams have played Huston-Tillotson so much that I’m almost to the point I can spell it without looking it up.

TLU should beat Southwestern but SU needs wins where ever they can find them. Playing at home maybe they find something.

Battle of the Sound with PLU on a roll and UPS stumbling. Throw it all out the window in a rivalry match!
