Wednesday, Nov 6 Match Day!
Updates: My first ever Match Day during the regular season that doesn’t contain a Region X team. I just felt we had some important national matches going on. Unfortunately, it is pickleball night so my participation is limited.
The big match out of the four is Chicago/IWU. Both teams are near the cut-line and cannot afford to lose this match. Swarthmore is playing Washington College in a match they should (and must) win. Same is true for Calvin against Olivet.
My (hot) wife had a medical emergency this morning. Should be okay but NPI updates will be late.
What a day. My (hot) wife fell in the bathroom last night and has multiple fractures under her eye. Nothing displaced so just pain while we wait to get an appointment for an ENT doctor. I will update the NPI shortly.
John Carroll is leading CWRU 1-0. Not really a match that should hurt CWRU’s chances too much. Chicago is up on IWU 1-0. Wittenberg is leading Otter 1-0 in a match that probably kills their at-large chances if they lose. Transy is up 1-0 on Hanover.
Oh, no pickleball tonight after all.
Calvin had no issues with Olivet, by the way, getting the sweep.
John Carroll’s win will go in the Upset log for biggest NPI differences. CWRU has a large cushion so no issue there.
Much needed win for Chicago. Chicago will move up to about 60.60. IWU will drop to around 58.99. Getting below that 59 mark is a problem.
Otterbein’s win takes them to around 59.41. For context, if you assume IWU will be the last team in (as they lose in conference to Millikin), then Otterbein leap frogs idle Southwestern (and a few teams probably getting an AQ) and IWU to take the last at-large bid.
With Transylvania’s win, however, they would hold off Otterbein if they do need an at-large. Small margins near the cut-line.
Wow. It’s kind of cool to be done and not have to wait on the west coast matches.
Here are the High NPI matches (55+ vs 55+) tonight:
There are no Region X matches today.
