Wedding Fun in West Palm Beach
West Palm Beach, FL
When you look back a few months to when the planning for this Eastern US Road Trip began, it can all be pinpointed to a wedding invitation in West Palm Beach. Mac’s cousin Bree was getting married in Florida at the end of April! It had been almost 3 years since we had seen Bree in person (way back when she visited us in Peru in 2015!) and we were longgggggg overdue for a visit! Conveniently Mac and I were looking for an opportunity to quit our jobs and go travelling again, and deciding to attend Bree’s wedding set off a chain of events that led us to the road trip and eventually to an open-ended European Adventure!
Wedding Fun
The day of the wedding couldn’t have been more ideal. Especially since Friday saw pouring rain, thunder, and lightning all afternoon! We spent the morning at the beach with other wedding guests soaking up the sunshine. Mac went for a dip in the crystal-clear ocean. I went in up to my shins, and I wished I had brought my swim suit! After a relaxing morning, it was finally wedding time! Bree was a gorgeous bride and her and new husband Jeff had a beautiful ceremony on the beach. We danced the night away under the twinkle lights of the open-air pavilion before we had to call it a night.
The Long Drive Home
Unfortunately with the quick turnaround time between trips, we had to leave early the next morning. We spent 2.5 long days driving north through four new states before finally arriving back in home. We did manage to squeeze in a few sight-seeing adventures during the long days of driving. One of the more memorable stops was the bridge over the New River Gorge. This bridge is the longest single-arch steel span bridge in the world. There was a whole visitors’ center here with overlooks of the bridge. The spring season had just started to arrive and all the trees were filled with buds and flowers. Finally!!!
We made it home in good time on the third day and have spent the last week gearing up for our next adventure!!!
