Volleyball Quiz Time

Well here we are,  week 2 of El Coronapocalipsis.  If things turn out okay, most of the world will be better in another three or four weeks.  If it doesn’t, well, at least we have The Last Days as a how-to-survive documentary.

As a college coach, it’s important for my athletes to take care of schoolwork since that’s all online now, but also to do some stuff related to volleyball–to remind them we are a team and that they/we are all in this together.  Even though I’m okay with an absence from volleyball and can use it to recharge (you should to!), sometimes its good to have stuff to do related to something you like, right?

I’m going to try and do the same thing this week.  Idle hands are the devil’s work…besides, you KNOW you want stuff to do while binging Prime, Hulu, and Netflix.

Here is another quiz for people.  Last time, I was asked what the answers are.  Hah–you’ve got to go find them yourself, but…sometimes answers will be opinions.  If you’re doing team meetings and such, discuss how you reached different answers!

(5 points each) 1 – Name five high school from your state that have colors in their nicknames (1pt each) 2 – True or False, the R2 (referee by the scorer’s table) is responsible if the coach asks for a lineup check and then the R2 puts them in the wrong place on the court? 3 – True or False, you have to play in the USAV High Performance program to be selected for the National Team? 4 – What is the difference playing libero in a US High School and for a high school student in Croatia?

(5pts each, 5 bonus pts for the one judged as ‘best’ of those submitted) 1 – Find a women’s volleyball blooper video 2 – Find a rally lasting more than a minute.  Count how many times the ball is touched during the rally. 3 – Find a movie scene with the worst volleyball ever. 4 – Find a VB clip with the craziest/most excited announcer possible 5 – An awesome volleyball celebration (can’t use a championship pile-up) **#4 and #5 are the same as the last quiz.  If you did that quiz, you have to find different ones.

(10 points each, 5 bonus pts for the one judged best) 1 – Make a 10-15 second video demonstrating your favorite volleyball skill. 2 – Create a meme showing off something you like about your favorite coach. 3 – Find a link to a GIF that isn’t about volleyball at all–but everyone who knows you knows…it’s REALLY about volleyball. 4 – Make a video.  You’ve got 30 seconds to say something nice about every one of your teammates.  Can you talk that fast???

(25 points, short answers) 1 – Using only 140 characters–explain how to hit a volleyball.  (really short answer here!) 2 – What is the objective of blocking? 3 – If you could change one thing about volleyball, what would it be? 4 – What is your least favorite part of club volleyball? 5 – Do you remember the first time you thought, “Wow, I love volleyball!”?  How old were you?  What was that moment?

(15 points, 5 pts for the one judged best) 1 – In baseball, every player coming to bat or for every relief pitcher has a walk-up or entrance song.  Pick one song for each player on your team that you think fits to a T. 2 – Create the ultimate shoe that you’d feel cool wearing on the court or walking around school in.

(10 points extra credit) EC – For each of your teammates, find a quote from another athlete (any sport) to inspire them.  Send it to them somehow on social media.
