Victoria de los Ángeles López García (1923–2005) was a Catalan Spanish operatic lyric soprano and recitalist whose career began after the Second World War and reached its height in the years from the mid-1950s to the mid-1960s.

She was born Victoria de los Ángeles López García in the porter’s lodge of the University of Barcelona, to Bernardo Lopez Gómez (or Gamez), a university caretaker, and Victoria García. She studied voice under Dolores Frau, and guitar with Graciano Tarragó, at the Barcelona Conservatory, graduating in 1941 after just three years, at the age of 18.

Victoria de los Ángeles: « Because my vocal color is rather dark and my medium is timbred, I have been classified as a mezzo. In fact, I started out as a light soprano, almost a coloratura. Then I tried to gain depth without losing my high register, although I hate anything that sounds like a performance. » Victoria de los Ángeles passed away on January 15, 2005, at the age of 81, fortunately leaving her many admirers a very rich discography in which a number of reference integrals flourish, as a testimony to her immense talent.
