VB Quiz Time (April Fool’s!)

Well here we are,  the third week of the Coronapocelipsis…. (get it?)  Flatten the curve, babyyy!  I’m reminded this week of Ben Franklin’s attitude towards fighting Britain, “We must hang together or we will assuredly hang separately.”  Make sure you’re being safe, hygenic, and careful with paying attention to potential symptoms.  Some research stats suggest up to 3/4 of infections come from people who are asymptomatic (aren’t showing any signs)!

Last week, I wrote upsome other activities:

No answers are provided.  You have the same access to world information I do.  Of course, some questions don’t have straight answers–they become perfect vehicles for discussing why you came up with different answer.

(5 points each) 1 – Name the last four state champs from your state (1pt each, bonus point if all correct) 2 – A U.S. college team goes to play a match in Canada–how many subs do they get during a set? 3 – True or False, it is required to play the National Anthem before a regular season volleyball match? 4 – What is the difference between a ball-handling violation and a ‘power tip’?

(5pts each, 5 bonus pts for the one judged as ‘best’ of those submitted) 1 – Find a video of a great volleyball sideline celebration 2 – Find a video with a player making a spectacular save and that team going on to score the point. 3 – Find a movie where the actors can actually play volleyball. 4 – Find a VB clip with the craziest/most excited announcer possible–but it can’t be in your native language!! 5 – Find a blooper where the team’s coach is involved.

(5 points each, 10 bonus pts for the one judged best) 1 – Make a 10-15 second video demonstrating your weakest volleyball skill. 2 – Make an audio or a video of you announcing a volleyball play or two. 3 – Find a GIF about your coach that your teammates will laugh hysterically at but no one else has a chance of understanding. 4 – Create a costume/disguise.  Video yourself playing VB in it, whether you’re a Disney Princess, a dinosaur, or a pogo stick.  You have to play in character!

(25 points, short answers) 1 – Using only 140 characters–explain how a setter chooses who to set.  (really short answer here!) 2 – When is the best time to attack with a tip? 3 – During summer vacation (May-July), is playing organized volleyball a good thing?  Why or why not? 4 – What is your least favorite part of high school volleyball? 5 – In the past three weeks, at what point did you first say, “Man, I’m really missing volleyball?”

(15 points, 5 pts for the one judged best) 1 – Your team gets to play music during timeouts.  What song gets played when your coach calls TO?  What gets played when the opponent calls it? 2 – Create a cartoon of some sort that explains something funny about volleyball.

(10 points extra credit) EC – Find a quote (from anywhere) that explains your feelings about someone on your team you think is a good leader.   Then think about yourself–“How do I fit this quote?”

This will probably be the last ‘quiz’ for a while.  As athletes grow accustomed to absence from the game and schools get up to speed with distance learning…less becomes more!
