US mens gymnastics team has gone batty

US Men think they can win Gold

I love the US men’s gymnastics team. Sure like most US gymnasts these days they love the camera way too much ( I am talking to you Jonathon Horton)but last years bronze medal was amazing for them especially when all the haters counted them out. Dominique Dawes was even seen on TV saying the team was done (For the record I never counted them out and thought bronze even without the obnoxious Hamm brothers was possible.) but now the guys think they can win Gold and IMO they really are out of touch.

Is it possible? Maybe. 3 up 3 count is a crap shoot. It can take out any team even a team as amazing as the Chinese team is but the current US mens team lacks a single consistent PH gymnast and without that the US men have no hope of a Gold medal. Sasha Artemev is amazing when he is on but you just cannot count on him at this point in his career. In a few years maybe but right now one almost great does not a PH make. What he did at the Olympics last year hitting in that pressure situation was something I never thought I would see him do.

Read the article. Jonathon (MR. Haley DeProspero) talks a good game about improving but what happened at the Japan Cup (a total melt down) doesn’t instill much faith in the future (reign in Steven Legendre and maybe I will change my mind. Amazing talent on vault and floor. Could be the Future of USA-gymnastics for the men if….) but you just never know.

Heck the US men did what they insist no one thought they could do at last years Olympics (Guess they never met me.lol)so maybe they will prove me wrong too. I hope they do. This is one time I wouldn’t mind eating crow.
