Unstoppable (2010)

Director: Tony Scott
Starring: Denzel Washington, Chris Pine, Rosario Dawson
With an unmanned, half-mile-long freight train barreling toward a city, a veteran engineer and a young conductor race against the clock to prevent a catastrophe.
Fresh off the set of ‘The Taking of Pelham 123’, director Tony Scott is back with another train movie – and ‘Unstoppable’ is even better!
Wow, I love this movie. It’s like ‘Speed’ on a train. I enjoyed the character and location set-up. Based on fact, this was even more thrilling. Off course, the film is more sensational than fact, but I’ll disregard that for the sake of an entertaining film.
Tony Scott wanted to do everything as practical as possible, and on location instead of a studio. The result is a film that looks incredibly realistic, and the action and danger is real. ‘Unstoppable’ is an incredible production, and exciting from the get go! The action and suspense never ceases.
The film also features a great score by Harry Gregson-Williams, who did the score for a number of Tony Scott films. The choice of actors can also be commended. Rosario Dawson was excellent as Connie, the yardmaster.
‘Unstoppable’ was a box office success, earning nearly $168 million on a $100 million budget. It received an Oscar nomination for Best Achievement in Sound Editing. It received several other nominations, including Best Director, Best Action/Adventure Film, Best Actor, Best Ensemble, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Best Original Score, Best Film Editing…
Would I watch it again? Absolutely!
