Tyler Armstrong Excited for Juco Journey to East Georgia State

Tyler Armstrong is a 2022 graduate of Pine Richland and is headed to East Georgia State College to continue his days as a baseball player. Playing for fellow Pittsburgh area native Eric McCombie was one reason he wanted to continue his career with the Bobcats. Once he visited and decided the junior-college route was the best for him, he knew East Georgia was the ultimate package he couldn’t turn down.
Armstrong played for the US Elites National Team on the travel circuit and had an outstanding final two high school seasons for the Rams. After an All-Section Honorable Mention campaign in 2021. His senior year saw him become a Second-Team All-Section player and get selected to play in the Big 26 Baseball Classic. He leaves the program as a three-time Perfect Game Preseason All-American.
So far in baseball, his favorite memories include the double he hit against Seneca Valley to help his team come back from a six-run deficit in the seventh inning and earn a season sweep, beating Alderdice to clinch the playoffs, and after the home North Allegheny game when they clinched a share of the section championship.
Being a Pine Richland baseball alumni is something that likely hasn’t quite set in, but it is something he mentioned and is proud of.
“Being an alumni from the program is great. When you play at PR that means everything and a lot of the guys who have come through embody that. They come back and speak to the teams and help out when needed. The family coach Wolfe preaches is real. Once you’re a part of it, you’re a part of it for life. It’s your duty as an upperclassmen and alumni to give back to the younger guys. Guys like Troy Laneve, Matt Wood, Josh Johnson, and my brother JD Armstrong looked out for me when I was younger and I tried to do that when I got older and will continue to do so now that I’m an alumni.”
Over his time at East Georgia, he hopes to work towards his degree in education to become a teacher, while eventually earning a baseball scholarship in the coming years.
Thank you for the chance to share your success in baseball so far, Tyler! Best of luck as you get ready for college baseball ⚾️ 👨🏻🏫
