Turbo (2013)

Director: David Soren
A freak accident might just help an everyday garden snail achieve his biggest dream: winning the Indy 500.
Theo, a garden snail, dreams of becoming a racing champion. His hero and inspiration is Indy 500 champion Guy Gagné. His brother Chet discourages him as they go about their daily snail duties in the garden. Danger in the form of crows, the lawnmower and a naughty kid lurks around every corner .
One night, a freak accident – with stunning effects similar to CGI effects in a Hollywood superhero movie – turns Theo into a super fast snail. Theo then names himself Turbo. By chance – thanks to Tito who runs a Taco restaurant together with his brother Angelo – Theo gets the chance to compete in snail racing. Theo and Chet meet a bunch of interesting (snail) characters, and to Chet’s dismay they encourage Theo’s dream of becoming a racing champion.
No dream is too big, and no dreamer too small, and soon our snail heroes find themselves preparing for the Indy 500, and Theo gets the opportunity to race against his idol. ‘Turbo’ is a highly imaginative film with stunning animation. The racing action is absolutely amazing! The voice cast is also excellent.
Who would have thought a film about snails could be this entertaining? This was awesome. “That snail is fast!”
‘Turbo’ earned $282.6 million on a budget of around $130 million, and received several award nominations.
Would I watch it again? Yes.
