Update:  Wiley College (NAIA) sweeps Centenary rather easily.

No video from Chapman??? Its got a famous film school. Figure it out! Video now up.

First set to Chapman 25-17. More of the same as what I saw from SU this weekend. Long rallies going to Chapman and SU just can’t get on any runs while hitting under .100.

Chapman wins set two 25-11. Long season coming for the Pirates. SU hit -.097 while Chapman hit .455. Set three also goes to Chapman 25-19 as they get the sweep. #21 Southwestern has now lost to three of the top teams in the SCIAC, which really hurts their West Region ranking assuming they turn it around.

I don’t know anything about Wiley College but they are beating up on ETBU right now after an easy win over Centenary.

ETBU is up 2-0 in sets over Centenary. The Ladies of Centenary are trying to get their first win of the year.

Random Thoughts:

The Southwestern/Chapman match has West Region implications as both teams will be fighting for an NCAA Tournament bid. It’s probably more important for Southwestern since they only went 1-3 over the weekend. I cannot be there for this one but I would like to warn the Southwestern parents to watch out while walking in those Chapman stands. That first step down can be a killer.

We actually have our first conference match of the year when Trinity travels to Schreiner for a match. The SCAC had to redo their schedule with the addition of JWU (Denver) and this is one of the outcomes. A rare midweek conference match for the SCAC.

HPU/TLU and Centenary/ETBU are both interesting as they pit SCAC and ASC teams against each other. Bragging rights at stake.
