Tuesday, Sept 6 Match Day!

Alright. All of the scores and box scores have been updated. ETBU sweeping Concordia just highlights the troubles the Tornados are having. It also is a boost for ETBU’s future.

LeTourneau was able to hold off HSU at home in a 5-set match. I was curious where HSU was in the grand scheme of things so this is a little bit disappointing. Of course, it could mean LETU is just good. We just don’t have enough matches to really know.

Nationally, no big surprises but I was interested in the IWU/Chicago match. It wasn’t close and it may mean we need to consider them back for the Top 25 along with their week one partners Aurora, St Olaf and Whitworth. It will just be really interesting to me where these four teams end up at the end of the year.

Random Thoughts: This is really about conference play in the ASC. Can’t believe it’s starting so soon but I’ve already shared my thoughts on that.

Concordia/ETBU – Story of two teams playing on opposite ends right now. Going into the season I would have taken Concordia but I think ETBU is playing too well right now.

Schreiner/HPU – This is a SCAC/ASC rematch from week 1. Schreiner swept HPU at UMHB and I don’t think things will be that much different at HPU.

HSU/LeTourneau – We’ll find out more about LETU in this one. They need to win this at home to make an early claim that they are an ASC Tournament team. With that said, I think HSU takes this but I honestly don’t know enough about LETU right now to be sure.

The rest of the matches are non-DIII. Note that the Southwest playing Sul Ross State is the non-DIII program out of New Mexico.
