Tuesday, Sep. 14 Match Day!

Updates: OMG!!!! This is my first cover photo of a player in the Match Day and it’s Kayla’s birthday! That was totally unplanned! Virgos Rule!

First sets are in the book. UTD with a narrow 25-23 win in game 1 over McMurry. UMHB all over HPU. ETBU 25-20 over LETU. Concordia 25-16 over HSU. Good to see both Kianna Crow and Sarah Ghormley on the court for their teams.

We have sweeps by UTD, UMHB and Concordia. That leaves only ETBU/LETU which are tied 1-1 late in the third set. Jenna Helms serves the last three points (including 2 aces) for the ETBU win. They are up 2-1.

My video has been spotty all night. I assume it’s me but my speed test is good.

Interesting final two points at ETBU/LETU tonight. Match goes 5-sets and LETU thinks they’ve won it at 14-12 (I think) but there is a touch call. Next point goes on forever and I think the referee needed to go home because he calls a lift on ETBU. Was it a lift? Could have been. Did it come to a complete rest? Nope. Does it get called as a lift other times? Probably 50/50. Anyway, LeTourneau has a way lately with ETBU and it continued tonight. Lillie Hill with 36 digs on the night for ETBU. I thought it was funny they kept serving her. Avery Reid supplied 18 kills. Welcome back Kianna Crow (19 kills).

Some leaders from today:

Kylie Metcalf (UMHB) with 7 kills hitting 0.429. Mya Ross (HPU) with 8 kills hitting 0.333. Sarah Ghormley (Concordia) with 16 kills hitting 0.406. Alyssa Legette (Concordia) with 31 assists and 11 digs. Langer and Salone (HSU) with 7 kills each.

Early matches are in the book. Late matches are about to start. I can almost guarantee a late update on these with cleanup tomorrow.

Oh!!! New Podcast out if you need help going to sleep!

Nationally ranked teams not involving the West are:

#18 Northwestern beat Saint Benedict #21 Tufts beat Brandeis #23 Babson beat Wellesley

Random Thoughts: I ran out of funny volleyball related pictures so I decided to find a senior of the day as it was. Today, we have ETBU senior outside Kayla Rainey. If I keep this up, it will be a senior from a team playing that day and will be totally random. (Although bribes will be accepted if anyone has someone they want up there.)

The ASC is in conference play today. The best match will probably be ETBU/LETU. Cross highway rivals going at it. LETU has been dealing with the C-Word so no idea how this will impact them. ETBU playing pretty well of late.

HSU is playing in only their second match of the year as they also had the C-Word hit them earlier this season. Concordia is looking for their first win and you would think will get it here but the Tornadoes have been…confusing.

Out on the coast, we have two non-DIII matches going on.
