Updates: ETBU is not having an issue with Centenary. Up 2-0.

ETBU gets the sweep. A little surprised to see Reid and Mosley banging away for all three sets.

HPU gets the sweep. I guess they started an hour earlier than I had them. Sigh. TLU up 1-0 on Concordia.

TLU gets the sweep. Brylie Nedd was human. Ryann Ely was not.

Smith beats Babson in 4-sets. I’m sorry. Babson is good but overrated. Just easier to get the NPI in those regions. The end result will be good for New England as I believe both will be at-large teams tomorrow. Babson around 60.47 and Smith around 59.40.

UTD looks like they will get the sweep over Austin College. And they do. Laura See with a nice match.

Pomona-Pitzer is another school where I struggle to get their Live Stats working.

Cal Lu take the first set over CMS. Interesting…

La Verne and Whittier win their first sets.

28-28 PP/Chapman. I just saw a lines person swing out wide so she could see if someone could bump it from the stands on the right inside the antenna. She couldn’t but nice positioning by this referee to make that call.

30-28 Chapman. Cal Lutheran and Chapman are really trying to get that 5th seed.

No Shae Delany for CMS. CMS broadcast shows player highlights during timeouts. Very cool. Ever since I talked about the CMS Ladies Broadcasting crew, I haven’t heard them. I mean this guy is good but it’s like hanging with the nerds when you are use to hanging with the cool kids.

Nice that PP has an announcer. Sometimes that is not the case. Getting different camera angles, too. Nice.

CMS also runs a banner under their feed that shows conference leaders in stats. Nice touch.

16-9 second set CMS/CLU had a long rally. I was really impressed with the CLU defense here.

Jenny Jenks is back for PP. Running a 6-2 the first two sets. Good that whatever the injury was that it’s allowing her back on the court.

La Verne 2-0. Whittier 2-0. CMS/CLU 1-1. PP/Chapman still in the second set.

PP finally gets the second set. All tied 1-1. ULV and Whittier seem to have easy sweeps tonight.

We have a kick save by CLU. Every player’s dream.

La Verne gets the sweep. Mya Ray doing Mya Ray things. CMS wins set three after CLU held a lead for a bit of it. 2-1 CMS.

Oxy playing tough with emotion in set three.

Oxy takes set three. Whittier leads 2-1. Way to make me look dumb. Great effort by Oxy.

32 digs by Dede Carranza (CMS) as we are very early in the fourth set. Can’t get more digs if you keep getting aces. 4 from her so far.

Chapman 25-15 third set and they go up 2-1. This would be a gigantic win for them as they have a leg up already for the 5th spot. Having wins over La Verne and PP would be quite a feather in the Panther’s cap.

The serve out-of-bounds on match point is just a bummer. CMS with the 3-1 win.

“We’ll be back in a jiffy.” – PP announcer. Take notes, Reed.

Whittier wins 3-1 over Oxy. Oxy gave them a run. Good to see. Chapman run off 6 straight points after a timeout at 15-15.

PP has moved to a 5-1 offense with Jenks but I didn’t catch when it happened. Six aces for Chapman so far but it seems like all of their serves are really tough. One of the reasons they may win this.

Smart move by the PP coach at 23-19. Middle is up to serve but subs don’t matter at this point being down. A DS is called in to serve and she serves tough to force a point. Timeout Chapman leading 23-20.

25-22 Chapman as they win in four sets. HUGE win for Chapman trying to lock down that final tournament spot. Doesn’t matter that much to PP but as you can see you don’t want to finish 4th and have to play an extra match against a team like Chapman.

Here are the High NPI matches (55+ vs 55+) tonight:

Region X Matches:

Random Thoughts: The ASC is done with conference and there are still two weeks left in the season. Sort of like UC Santa Cruz has to deal with but their problems start week one since their conference doesn’t even play each other. So, we see some ASC teams fishing for matches today.

Over in the SCAC, we’ve got Concordia driving down to beautiful Seguin for their match against TLU. Should go TLU’s way.

Other than that and the fishing, it’s about the SCIAC tonight. From our Weekly Wrap-Up, we know that the 5th spot is open and every match is important for seeding. Tonight we have La Verne/Redlands, which should go to La Verne but Redlands really need an unexpected win to get back in the race for 5th. Whittier plays Oxy and we’ll see if they want to play spoiler here. Chapman has been on a roll but now roll into Pomona-Pitzer. PP should win this but Chapman is fighting for that 5th spot, which they control. A win here almost locks it down. The final match is Cal Lutheran at CMS. CMS should have this but CLU is also looking for that unexpected win. Still, CMS should win this as long as they don’t hit into Mortensen. (It’s tidbits like this that cause all of the smart coaches to follow the site.)
